Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is back this year and is a fun filled evening for you and your family! From the Cadaver Dans to the Sanderson Sisters taking the stage, you are swept up into Spooky Season in Mickey’s favorite way.
The Halloween party takes place at Magic Kingdom and is a special ticketed event. Guests of the party can enter Magic Kingdom beginning at 4:00 pm, with the party officially getting underway at 7:00 pm. Daily park guests can stay at Magic Kingdom until 6:00 pm when the park closes for the day.
Once they begin letting guests into the party, the entrance is pretty simple. Same as entering the parks for a normal park day, you can use a physical ticket (these are either mailed to you, or picked up at the will-call window), your My Disney Experience app that has the tickets loaded onto it, or your Magic Band. After scanning in, you will be given a wristband to indicate you are there for the party. This is important as the cast members will be checking for these throughout the evening.
When you enter Magic Kingdom, you are guided past the Walt Disney theater on your right and to the back side of Main Street. You will be guided down a paved path behind Main Street where you will receive your treat bag for the evening. There are plenty of photo ops on this path with golden statues dressed for Halloween along the way. Should you need allergy friendly treats, there is a teal treat bag you can pick up for your treat stops around the park.
After receiving your treat bag(s) you are free to go about Magic Kingdom for the next couple of hours until the park officially closes and the party begins. This is a great time to catch a few rides, grab a bite for dinner (as the meal options become fewer as the party begins), and plan out your evening. Be sure to grab the official MNSSHP guide for the evening. It lists all of the times for the shows, parades, and fireworks, all the Halloween snacks available through the evening and where the treat trails are located. It’s good to think through the evening to decide which stage show time you want to attend, which parade you want to see, characters you want to meet, and snacks you want to try.
Cadaver (Dapper) Dans
Shows – Be sure to catch the Cadaver (Dapper) Dans performing in Frontierland from the upper deck. They are funny and incredibly talented. Bonus, there is a treat trail right next to their “stage”. This is a great place to begin your evening and get the party off to a good start. The other show available is the Sanderson Sisters stage show, right on the main castle stage. The show happens three different times during the party giving you several options to catch it. You can catch not only the Sanderson Sisters with appearances from some of your other favorite villains such as Oogie Boogie and more. You can additionally catch the Monsters Inc crew in a dance party in Tomorrowland as well as a Zombie dance party inside of Cosmic Ray’s.
Parade – the “Boo to You” parade happens two different times during the party. It is the same parade so you can catch either one. See all of your favorite characters in one place such as the
Haunted Mansion gravediggers, Wreck It Ralph, plus villians and of course Mickey and Minnie too! Be sure to be early for the parade to catch the Headless Horseman as well as Max Goof dressed as Powerline.
Fireworks – One of the best parts of the party is the Halloween theme fireworks show! With Halloween projections on the castle, spooky songs like “This is Halloween”, “Toccata & Fugue”, “Boo to You”, “Grim Grinning Ghosts” and so much more. A definite for your evening.
Treats – The Halloween party does not disappoint when it comes to special treats throughout the evening. From the Pain & Panic Hot Dog at Casey’s, to the Corn on the Cob Cake, it is all amazing. The best treat to me is the Corn on the Cob Cake. It looks just like Corn on the Cob, but is a delicious vanilla cake covered in white chocolate “corn” kernels. YUM!!! Give some of these a try, they are great!
Rides – During the Halloween party, a few of the rides transform. The Haunted Mansion adds live characters outside that interact with the guests as they travel through the queue. Meeting ghosts and ghouls along the way, some of the 999 Happy Haunts on the ride have come to life. Pirates of the Caribbean adds live characters as well, not only to the queue but during the ride as well. Hear them guide you to the treasure and try to convince you to split it with them when you find it. Mad Tea Party changes their music and lights to a more spooky atmosphere, adding to the fun of the ride. And finally, Space Mountain becomes Deep Space Mountain and the ride is completely in the dark. Pitch black. All of your sense of sight is gone. Definitely adds to the intensity of the ride. All four rides are fun to experience during the party.
Treat Trails – One of the best parts of Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is the treat trails. Positioned all over the park, there are multiple locations to walk through and get treats from the cast members. These locations are well marked with large lit pillars welcoming you to the trail Most of these trails are show locations such as the Country Bear Jamboree, Mickey’s Philharmonic, or the Monster’s inc Laugh Floor that you walk through and out the other side. Inside Monsters Inc Laugh Floor you can even sit down and take in some of the comedy acts interacting with the crowd. Definitely adds to the fun of the evening. If you have an allergy-friendly bag you will receive a token at each treat trail that you can turn in once you are finished for allergy safe treats. That way, you still get to walk through all of the treat trails with your friends and family and have a safe for you option at the same time.
Characters – If meeting characters is high on your to-do list, the Halloween party is a great place to meet some of the characters you don’t see very often. Throughout the evening you can see characters around the park, such as Captain Jack Sparrow, Aladdin, and more, but you can also see more rare characters like Jafar, or the most popular Jack Skellington & Sally. Be prepared to wait if you are wanting to catch Jack & Sally though, their line is typically long. You also don’t want to miss Mickey Mouse dressed as Dracula in the Main Street theater by the entrance!
Don’t forget to stop by The Emporium and check out the Halloween merchandise. From shirts specifically designed for MNSSHP to Mickey shaped pumpkin treat buckets, you can find something to commemorate your visit.
All in all, there is a ton of fun to do at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. From the beginning to the end, there are many ways to plan out your evening and do everything you want to do and more. We are so glad the party has returned to Magic Kingdom and brings you all the “BOOS” you could ever want!
