Restaurant Review: Rose & Crown

Rose & Crown, located in the United Kingdom pavilion in Epcot, is a great option for laid back dinner option.  Reservations are pretty easy to get, and the food is always good.  We recently did an adults-only travel agent trip, and we made reservations for a late dinner.

The atmosphere at Rose & Crown is very pleasant and reminiscent of a British pub.  Serving all the British favorites like bangors and mash, fish and chips, and shepherd\’s pie, the food here is delicious and filling!

The check in podium for Rose & Crown is to the left of the restaurant near the outdoor pub.  There aren\’t many places to wait for your table, but if you can find a spot, it\’s a great place to people watch!

Seating options are available both inside and outside. Inside the restaurant is lots of dark wood and a quaint feel.  It\’s very homey!  Seating outside is on the back patio.  It has two tiered levels so that all the tables get a great view of the World Showcase Lagoon.  It makes for great seating for Illumination or just a great view!

Inside there\’s even a great bar with standing room only and a few low tables.  They serve all the typical British beers here:  Bass Ale, Boddingtons, Guinness, and Harps Lager.  For those who are not beer drinkers, there\’s also Woodchuck Apple Cider and Strongbow Cider as well as some unique cocktails. There are also the pub blends like Black & Tan, Bumblebee, Snake Bite, and more!  Also available are scotch flights!

On this particular visit, we booked a late dinner.  When we arrived, we politely asked at check in if we could wait for an outside table.  Just a few minutes later, our table was ready, and it was fabulous! We had a great view of the lagoon.

We started our meal with a Scotch egg and the United Kingdom Cheese Platter.  If you don\’t know what a Scotch egg is, don\’t worry.  I didn\’t either!  It\’s a hard-boiled egg wrapped in sausage meat and then coated in bread crumbs; it\’s finished by baking or frying!  And it\’s fabulous!  The United Kingdom Cheese Platter was also delicious; made up of McCall\’s Irish Cheddar, Stilton and Cotswald cheeses, it was a great starter.

Scotch egg cut open and ready to eat!

For our main entree, we shared a fish and chips platter, and then finished off our dinner with Sticky Toffee Pudding. Sticky toffee pudding was nothing like I expected and totally delicious!  I\’d order it again for sure.

At 9:00, Illuminations began, so we ate our dessert and watched the show.  Best Illuminations experience ever!  In fact, it was so great that I only took a few pictures, and then sat back to savor my dessert and watch the show.

Overall, Rose & Crown is a great experience not to be missed.  I recommend making reservations to insure you have a table reserved.  All Disney dining plans (except the Quick Service Dining Plan) is accepted here as is Tables in Wonderland.
