Friday Five: Five Reasons You Should Attend Mickey\'s Not So Scary Halloween Party

Fall is a fantastic time to visit the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. The weather is cooler, the crowds are lower than summer, and there are lots of fun things to do! In Epcot, the Food & Wine festival is sure to please even the most sophisticated palate. The Magic Kingdom is decorated in beautiful and festive fall decorations, and, on select nights, the Magic Kingdom is transformed into Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party!

But is it worth paying an extra entry fee to attend Mickey\’s Not So Scary Halloween Party? Maybe not for all families, but certainly for many!  If you have very young children, paying for a party that takes place between 7 pm and midnight may not be worth it for you, but if your family can enjoy those hours, here are five great reasons to make time for Mickey\’s Not So Scary Halloween Party:

1. The Boo to You Halloween Parade:  An amazing parade that will have you singing its theme song the rest of your visit.  If the weather is good, the Headless Horseman will start off the parade followed by all your favorite characters in costume along with ghouls and goblins and the grave-diggers with their \”sparky\” shovel show! This parade only appears during Mickey\’s Not So Scary Halloween

Don\’t worry…it\’s not overly scary for little ones!

The candy loot…we may have already eaten some.

2. Trick or Treating throughout the Park:  Trick or Treat trails are set up for the entire family to gather treats throughout the evening. You can get a trick or treat bag when you enter the party; then simply visit the trails and gather your candy! And did I mention that this is the one time that adults are allowed to wear costumes into Magic Kingdom? Make sure you know the rules for costumes since there have been some changes for the 2016 parties.

3.  Villains!  If you are a fan of the Disney Villains, this is a great night to see them.  Check out the Hocus Pocus Villain Spectacular where the Sanderson Sisters along with many Disney Villains try to cast a spell on the Magic Kingdom. Look for other villains around the park–Cruella DeVil, Jafar, Queen of Hearts and more!

4.  Characters in Costume:  The characters are dressed in their best Halloween costumes and available for photos all over the Magic Kingdom.

Many of these characters, like the seven dwarfs, Jack Skellington and Sally, and a few others can only be found during the party nights!

5.  HalloWishes: A celebration of Halloween fireworks.  The castle glows in Halloween colors during a special fireworks celebration with the staff from the Haunted Mansion and some Disney Villains! HalloWishes shows only during party nights, so this is the only way to see it!

If Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party doesn’t fit your budget this year or your family’s travel plans, make sure to return another fall to experience all the Halloween magic!
