We were excited to have news last week on the Disney World parks reopening. Unfortunately, it brought some disappointment as well as lots of questions. Maybe more questions than answers at this time! While none of the information below is new, we just wanted to put it all in one place to be reviewed. This is accurate as of June 3, 2020, and it will continue to change as time goes on! Magic Kingdom Park and Disney’s Animal Kingdom to begin a phased reopening to the general public on July 11, followed by EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios on July 15.
What we know…
To enter the park, you will have to make a reservation for each day.
Ticket sales are halted for now. When they resume, they will be limited based on the capacity of the park on a given day.
Numbers will be limited in each park; we don\’t know that number or percentage, but it will be considerably smaller than normal during Phase 1.
Dining plans have been cancelled through the end of 2020. Also, all dining reservations and FastPasses have been canceled through the end of 2020. Refunds will be issued for dining plans.
Dining reservations will reopen at some point as will FastPasses.
We cannot make modifications of any sort to existing packages.
DVC properties at Disney World and Fort Wilderness will be opening on June 22.
Phase 1 will involve social distancing of 6 feet apart where possible, restaurants to be at a much lower capacity, and the Social Distance Squad out patrolling the parks!
Face coverings will be required. According to Disney\’s website, they must go around the ears or have ties and fully cover mouth and nose. We are not clear if that means the neck gaiter style or regular scarf type are allowed or not.
What we don\’t know…
When the reservation system will open for booking a park or who will have priority.
When ticket sales will resume or how that will be handled.
How many people will be allowed in each park
When we can book dining reservations and FastPasses. Disney indicated that they will open 60 days out for both, but we do not have the ability to book those at this time.
When dining plans will resume or IF dining plans will resume
When we can make modifications to existing reservations.
When the remainder of the Disney World hotels will open
How long Phase 1 will last…
If Mickey\’s Not So Scary Halloween party and Mickey\’s Very Merry Christmas party will be held nor do we know if those tickets are refundable if already purchased, and the guest chooses not to go to Disney World this fall.
Additionally, we do not know how long this new dining booking process will be in place. Is 60 days going to be normal moving forward or if this is temporary.
We are updated the Facebook page as we can, but changes are often unofficial (i.e. we\’re not getting information directly from Disney) and happening quickly–sometimes multiple changes within a given day.
Will you have your mask on and be ready to visit Disney World this summer, or are you waiting until fall or even until 2021 before your next trip?
